Good Clean Love Body Candy Review
By Carnal Queen.
I think it’s fair to say, that testing sex toys often leads me to products which induce passion in different ways, products which can make orgasms faster and easier to achieve. It’s not very often I get the opportunity to trial something which brings the focus back to unadulterated skin on skin contact, to highlight the senses of two lovers without any bells and whistles. That’s why I was very interested to get my hands on the Good Clean Love Cocoa Mint Body Candy, a product which offers to accentuate the glorious feeling of tongue on skin contact.
I dived in eagerly when my parcel arrived. The body candy arrives in a 2oz tin, and looks and has the texture of a nice lip balm. In fact, I think people would just assume that it is a large tin of lip balm if they spotted it by the bed. Upon opening, you’re greeted by the lovely aroma of chocolate and mint, which as we all know is a very popular combination, which works well. I love the ethos of Good Clean Love, their products are simple, with no nasty additions to the ingredients list, and that’s something I’m quite passionate about. Who wants to use shitty ingredients on their bodies? Not me! The body candy is no exception to their rule, a minimal number of high quality ingredients, in fact, there’s only 9 of them;
- Avocado Butter
- Shea Butter
- Organic Jojoba Oil
- Coconut Oil
- Candelilla Wax
- Essential Oil Blend
- Lecithin
- Tocopherol
- Stevia Extract
The balm can be put just about anywhere on the body you can think of, externally. It’s not to be used internally, which to be honest is fairly obvious. The first place I went for was of course the lips – the idea of minty chocolatey kisses sound pretty good to me. I dipped my finger into the balm and gathered a generous covering on my finger. Raising my hand towards my face, I picked up on the sweet aroma and looked forward to the taste. After applying, I licked my own lips, only to be really disappointed by what I found. Where was the flavour? Actually that’s not completely fair, there is a taste, but it’s not a particularly pleasant one. It tastes a little musty to me, like I’m licking something old, with a very very faint undertone of mint. Not sexy, not particularly nice, very disappointing.
Sadly CK feels the same about this balm as I do. We were both excited by the concept, it’s brilliant. I wanted to trace lines of balm across my neck and chest, to places which only belong to CK and have him lick and savor every inch. Alas, that’s not going to happen. This tastes no different to us, no matter where we put it. The musty taste fades a little after it’s been on the skin a few minutes, but sadly so does that barely detectable hint of mint.
It’s a beautiful balm though, in the sense that it leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated, so it will get used up and not wasted. I’m sad that this product is a miss for me. I was hoping for a hit, that could help people to bring the sexy back, and allow them to rediscover each others bodies. Maybe the other flavour options are better? I don’t know, but I can’t help but think, if mint can’t win through as a noticeable flavour, less potent flavours have little chance 🙁
I was really hoping for a feast for the senses, a balm to turn even the most delicious of kisses into something even more spectacular. A product like this is all about the taste, there’s no getting away from that, it has to taste amazing, or else what’s the point? Huge thumbs up for the concept and the great, body friendly ingredients, but for me, the execution of it just isn’t quite on point yet.
