L’amourose Vera Review
By Carnal Queen.
You will most likely know how much I love my L’amourose Rosa Rouge, it’s amazing and I take every opportunity to sing it’s praises. I genuinely don’t think enough people have heard of L’amourose as a company, or experienced their beautiful quality products, and I want to put that right! I understand though, that not everybody will feel comfortable investing the kind of money the Rosa Rouge demands, so I was keen to explore their range further and see what their entry level toys were like. The lovely folk at Pasante very kindly sent me the L’amourose Vera, to see if it lived up to the high levels set by the Rosa Rouge …
Firstly, lets talk names. Are the names given to sex toys really important? Well I don’t think they are overly, but I have to admit, this one amused me a bit, I mean, Vera? I grew up watching Coronation Street (it doesn’t matter where in the world you are, you’re going to know about Coronation Street) and so the name Vera always brings up images of a well known character from years gone by – so now I’ve got a sex toy which has been nicknamed Vera Fuckworth! The name just doesn’t match the high end, exquisite feel of the toy, which leads me on nicely to the packaging …
I don’t tend to focus too much on the packaging, but with L’amourose I kind of feel it deserves a mention. It’s beautiful, and the attention to detail is evident. It’s certainly not the kind of packaging that will find itself in the bin, it’s just too nice for that! The black keepsake box is sturdy, and allows the Vera to sit on it’s charging dock, looking all elegant and lovely. You also get a velvet finish storage bag, which thankfully is satin lined to keep your Vera in, and obviously a charging cable, info booklet and warranty card. The warranty is 18 months, and they also give you a lifetime quality guarantee, meaning if it breaks after 18 months, you get 50% off a new L’amourose product – which in my opinion is pretty fantastic!
Right, so how well does it perform? In truth, it performs very nicely indeed! I’ve kind of had to pull my head back a bit when testing the Vera, because I found myself naturally comparing it to the Rosa Rouge, which isn’t at all fair. At over double the price, I would expect a lot more from the Rosa Rouge in performance. At £69.95, the Vera sits in the same bracket as say the We-Vibe Tango or Touch, so that’s where my comparisons should be. In terms of quality, the L’amourose Vera wins HANDS DOWN, but the type of stimulation which suits you personally will factor hugely into which toy is for you. The Vera isn’t able to provide you with pinpoint stimulation in the way the Tango can, and if I want a quick orgasm, I would still gravitate to the Tango, for that reason. If however you prefer a more broad surface stimulation, like the Touch or similar, then the Vera will most likely suit you very well.
I’m able to orgasm with the Vera, but I find that it takes longer to build because of the broad surface area vibrations. I actually do like that though, as I can be a bit of an impatient wanker (boom boom!) so it’s nice to slow things down. I also like the Vera for body massage and all over stimulation, I find the small shape easy to hold and use in this way. CK did comment that he found it a little awkward to use like this, but I think that’s because he’s got big man hands, my iddy biddy female hands suit it well. It’s only 90g, so it’s nice and light too.
The vibrations are lovely, and didn’t disappoint me at all. It’s true, they’re not quite on par with the Rosa Rouge, but the unit is so much smaller, I can’t expect them to be the same. They’re deep and rumbly, not at all buzzy, and with 5 patterns and 12 speeds, there’s going to be something for most people, it’s also extremely quiet during use, which is fab. It’s totally body-safe, as it’s made from ABS plastic and silicone, and it’s waterproof up to one metre. I get around 3 hours play with a full charge (which takes just 90 minutes), but I do like it on higher settings, L’amourose say you’ll get around 4 hours on medium levels of intensity. It’s so easy to clean. being waterproof, but you need to make sure you pay particular attention to the line where the silicone and plastic meet, as it can get a bit clogged with lube and ‘stuff’, and on the subject of lube, water based all the way!
All in all, I really do like the Vera, and I think it’s a brilliant introduction to L’amourose and great value for money. The quality isn’t at all compromised, and I think if you’re new to the brand you’ll be extremely impressed. Do you already own something from L’amourose and you’re looking at expanding your collection? I think if you own one of the Rosa or Denia range, you would probably not benefit greatly from adding the Vera, purely because those toys are already awesome to use for clitoral stimulation, but if you want to add the teasing/massaging element, then yes, you’d probably enjoy what the Vera has to offer. If you’re new to L’amourose and like broad surface vibrations, then what are you waiting for?
Pasante kindly sent me the L’amourose Vera for free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. If you’d like to purchase one, you can do so here. No affiliate links have been used in this post.
