Dewcibox Subscription Box Review
By Carnal Queen.
Subscription boxes. We’ve all heard of them. An array of cosmetics, toiletries, fruit and vegetables, dog treats, and even bacon, can all be delivered to your door on a monthly basis. You pay a set price, and the goods in your box generally stay a mystery until you sit and unwrap them in the comfort of your own home. They’re hugely popular, and their growth shows no signs of slowing down, as the adult subscription box gains momentum in the industry. But are they any good? Do they offer value for money to the consumer and are they a favourite destined to stay, or a fad that will fade into oblivion? Only one way to find out …
Dewcibox is a new company to launch an adult sub box. First impressions are really quite good, so when they approached me and asked me if I’d like to review one, I accepted the offer straight away. They want to provide you with a box of treats, to pamper and prepare you for intimacy. Aimed more at couples, the boxes don’t only contain sex toy treats, but also sweet treats, massage products, lubricants and more. The whole package I guess.
I kind of had to remove my sex toy hoarder/tester/writer’s head for this review, and try to take myself back to a time when dildos didn’t litter every surface of my home, and plug sockets weren’t all full of vibrators on charge. I’m not the demographic for Dewcibox, but I totally understand the excitement and popularity of the subscription box, and I know my readers will be interested to know what’s on offer. And besides, I’m a sucker for a surprise – part of the appeal when it comes to these boxes is not knowing what you’re going to be getting, and sitting down with CK to discover it together was always going to be fun. So lets crack on.
As I said before, first impressions were really good. It arrives beautifully boxed in an elegant black, Dewcibox branded box. It’s the kind of box that you might keep for storing bits and pieces in, because it’s discreet and pretty sturdy. Once you’ve undone the bow and opened the lid, you’re greeted with a list of contents and a voucher for money off your next purchase, which is a nice touch. A layer of tissue paper and some shredded paper is all that stands between you and your box of goodies now. I was sent April’s box, so I won’t be spoiling any surprises by revealing the contents …
- Two Chocolate Hearts
- Funkin Mojito Mix
- Lovehoney Magic Bullet
- Two Playboy Condoms
- Licx Mix Selection box
- Ayumi Sensual Massage Oil
- Zuyosa Sexual Vitality Supplement for Men
As you can see, there is a real mix of products there! I thought the chocolates and the drink mix were a lovely touch. The Funkin Mojito contains no alcohol as it is, and it’s recommended that you mix it with white rum … who am I to argue? It’s delicious, and went down a treat!
You’ll need to supply your own battery for the Lovehoney bullet, as it didn’t come with one, but most of us will have a AAA battery knocking around in the bottom of a drawer. I’ve already got one of these bullets, so I knew what to expect in terms of power. It’s not going to make the earth move too much for you, but in general, it’s a great first bullet if you’re wanting to dip your toes in the water. It’s enough to get some stimulation of the clitoris, nipples, penis, testicles and perineum going on, but don’t attempt to use this toy anally. A lot of fun can be had when you’re starting to explore.
We don’t really use condoms, so the addition of them is neither here or there for us. Some people may be pleased to have a couple thrown in, and others, if they use them as standard, will possibly have their own preferred brand already. But then it never hurts to try something different, does it?
The Licx mix was a welcome addition, but one that confused me a little. I think it’s a fabulous idea to have these little sachets of essentials, especially if you travel a lot, as it negates the need for carrying bottles around with you. You get 1 gel lube, 1 cream lube, 2 arousal gels, and 2 intimate wipes. What confused me, was the ingredients list on the box. It states what each product contains, which is great for checking there’s nothing in there that you have a problem with, but the ingredients list on the box doesn’t match those on the packets. It’s not a big deal, but I thought it was a bit strange. I assumed the ones on the packet would be the correct ones. I liked the Licx products, they were really nice to use, and I especially liked the intimate wipes – depending on circumstance, it’s not always practical to rush off to the bathroom straight after a session, so these are handy.
The Ayumi massage oil is divine. Scented with Ylang Ylang, Cedarwood, Sandalwood and Calendula, it has a really warm, seductive and subtly exotic fragrance to it. It’s a big bottle too, 250ml will last a while! It can be used on wet skin after a shower, it can be added to a bath, or it can be massaged into dry skin. It’s more of a dry oil, so you don’t look and feel like you could fry chips on your skin after use, and the scent lingers for a long time. I love this, it’s beautiful.
The final product is Zuyosa. I’m on the fence a little bit in terms of this being in a subscription box if I’m honest. Firstly, it’s the most expensive part of the box (RRP £20), and if you have no cock, it’s useless. It’s pretty clear that this box is aimed at heterosexual couples, which kind of feels like it’s excluding a huge portion of the population, and that makes me sad. Secondly, not everyone will be able to use it. You have to be very careful with supplements if you’re taking certain medications, so fully researching it before you take it is essential, else you could potentially cause harm. Not really what you want from a box designed to be fun! CK has no issues with the ingredients though, so he’s fine to take it. As far as supplements go, this one seems to be quite a good one. I’m always cautious, because it’s hard to determine how much of it is down to placebo effect. He’s already the Duracell Bunny in terms of his stamina, but when he knows he’s taken something that’s meant to improve this further, it becomes his goal to torture me, and he excels at it! It’s good fun though 😉
I have to say, my Dewcibox journey has been fun. If you’re a seasoned sex toy lover, then I doubt it’s for you, but if you’re looking to try something new and add a touch of the unknown into your relationship, then I think you’ll have fun exploring what the box has to offer. The value is good too, as all the products bought individually would cost a lot more than the cost of the box. If you like the idea behind Dewcibox, but prefer to know what you’ll be getting, they also offer a selection of other boxes that are individually themed, available for one off purchase. Ultimately, they’re a lot of fun.
Pros
Excitement of the unknown
Contains a wide variety of pampering treats
Good value for money
Cons
May not be suitable if you already have a sex toy collection
Danger of repetition
Not all products may be suitable for you
