I was nominated for a Real Neat Blog award by the very lovely Dave from The Big Gay Review and also by Tease For Two. Basically, the idea is that you answer a few questions about your blogging life and then nominate other bloggers whom you enjoy and respect – I’m all for sharing the cyber love! Thank you both for my nominations guys, my answers follow, as do my nominations. Why not check them out?
Why did you start blogging?
It’s something that I’d considered for a while. A few people told me that I should, and because I’d been testing and reviewing sex toys for a while, I did think that it might be nice to have somewhere central to collate my various reviews in one place. Life took a turn in a negative direction, and because I’m my own worse enemy and struggle with the demons in my own head sometimes, my Fiancé decided to give me the final push by buying me my domain on the 7th of August last year. He thought it would be good for me to have something to focus on, and put my mind to. If I’m honest, I don’t think I realised how right he was – don’t tell him!
If your site had a goal, what would it be? How do you feel you’re doing with that goal, right now?
I guess my only real goal is to keep moving forward and to keep writing things that people want to read. It sounds stupidly simple doesn’t it? Those demons I mentioned before can be a real bitch sometimes, and I’ve considered throwing the towel in on a couple of occasions, which is ridiculous, because things are going really well and I’ve been stunned by the support for and growth of my blog – a swift kick up the arse usually sorts me out though! I love the feeling of helping people to make good informed decisions when it comes to their sex toys, it’s gratifying and fills me with a warm glow … Jeez, could I be any more cliche? Note to self, stop being such a sap!
How has blogging influenced your life?
It’s influenced my life way more than I anticipated to be honest. I considered it a hobby to begin with, but I’m quickly learning that it’s very good for me and that I almost need to do it. It gives me confidence, knowing people read and listen to my opinions and it focuses me in times when otherwise I’d probably be curled up shying away from the world. The obligation I feel towards a company when I receive products to test, to do a thorough job, keeps me moving forward sometimes when depression is hanging over me. Which in turn helps to keep my relationship on an even keel. Having sex really helps with lifting black clouds and improving the mood, but most people won’t feel like it when they’re down – I push through it when I’m testing something, and I’m so glad I feel I have to. Blogging is good for my sex life!
What is your favourite part of blogging?
The freedom. I can be me, no censoring or biting my tongue. It’s my website, my experiences and my prerogative to do and say as I please. It might sound silly, but that’s liberating. I also love the interaction with readers and companies via social media, I’ve made connections that have turned into friendships and I love that. I also love seeing how my website is viewed all around the world, it genuinely blows my mind and reminds me that the world is really not that big in this world of technology that we live in.
Are you kinky? How did you come to this conclusion?
Am I kinky? What sort of question is that? “Kinky” means so many different things to different people, and what I consider kinky, you may not. I’m me, I know what I like and I like what I do. I’m open to trying most things, with the exception of things like needle play, defecation play, and anal fisting (non of those are wrong, they’re just not me), I like dressing up, bdsm, and all manner of sex toys, amongst other things … does that make me kinky? You decide!
Oh, and I won’t share my OH, not for all the tea in China!
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Happy and healthy. That was easy! I’ve no idea what my future will entail, but that’s all I want for me and the people I love. In another life, I’d love to be an actress, but that’s never going to happen in this one!
What is the most important thing about you that you want everyone to know?
Errr … Ummm … I don’t know! That one is really difficult for me to answer. I guess I’d like people to know that I’m real – I’m honest and loyal, I have feelings, I’m not invincible (sadly) and I’m very much breakable. Shout at me, and it’s likely that I’ll cry, but fuck with people I care about and feel my wrath! If you want facts, I’m creative and love making things, I hate spiders but love animals, I enjoy the theatre and comedy gigs and if I’m at a party and ‘Saturday Night’ by Whitfield comes on, I can’t stop myself from getting up and showing people how it’s done! Why do they always do it wrong?
Right, on to my nominations! I’ll apologise now if you’ve already been nominated, I’ll have missed it if you have!
Have fun guys!
