Iroha+ Kushi Review
By Carnal Queen.
The Tenga Iroha+ Kushi – Kushi is an incredibly cute name don’t you think? A cute name, for a beautiful, squishy, squeezable chunk of silicone sex toy art. And I’m not even kidding, this thing is totally gorgeous. It’s unique, it’s well made and presented fantastically – the kind of piece that you’d happily leave on display. In fact, it’s kinda criminal if you hide this away in a drawer!
I really wasn’t sure what to expect, as I waited (not so) patiently for my Kushi to arrive. I’d not tried a toy from the previous Iroha line, so I had no bench-mark in my thoughts. Although I knew they looked amazing, I was still incredibly impressed by what greeted me when I first opened the box.
The Tenga Iroha+ Kushi is a waterproof, silicone, 5 speed, 2 pattern vibrator, which charges magnetically via the included charging/keepsake box. I really like this idea, it’s neat and tidy, it’s functional, it keeps your toy dust-free and ready for use and it looks pretty snazzy on your bedside table! The box is powered by a USB cable, so charging the toy is easy with a laptop or via a USB wall plug. My review sample came with a two-pin European wall adaptor, but you’ll get one that’s applicable to where you live. A two hour charge gives one hour of play.
Just look at the thing – is bloody beautiful! Honestly, you might think I’m a little crazy for saying that, but it’s genuinely a sight to behold. The silicone is the softest, squishiest silicone that I’ve ever felt. I’d be really interested to see Tenga incorporate this type of silicone into a guy-toy, because I think they’ve potentially got a fantastic stroker material on their hands, it’s so buttery soft!
The Texture on the Kushi is fantastic, and very clearly defined. You look at it and think of seashells, even the soft putty colour is reminiscent of shells and the beach. If you’re a texture-phobe, the Kushi might not be right for you, but honestly, the exterior is so soft, you can’t really feel the lines and ridges in use. From a cleanliness point of view, yes, ‘stuff’ does get stuck in the texture detail, but because it’s waterproof up to 50cm, a good clean in the sink with soap and water is super quick and easy. You’ve literally got no excuses there. The vibrations actually really surprised me. They were much deeper and rumblier than I imagined, and when placed around my delicate areas, they really resonated deep into my body. They feel fantastic against my labia, and even through flesh, my clit still feels like it’s invited to the party, which is great! The soft, malleable form, means I can grind away against it all day long, and it never feel uncomfortable. Most hard vibrators would feel far too harsh to do that with, but not the Kushi! Because of this, I think it’s a fantastic vibe to use during sex. It’s so comfortable, and easily small enough to fit between two bodies, without getting in the way or causing any discomfort.
The shape is lovely, with a broader, more curvaceous end, and another which tapers nicely into a defined point. Although it looks to be capable of very pinpoint stimulation, I’ve found that not to be the case. As soon as I position the tip against my clit, I feel like I want to apply a bit of pressure, and because of the soft silicone, it just squashes flat against me, and then the rumbly vibrations disperse into the whole of my vulva area. Great if you like broad stimulation, not so great if you need very direct, pinpoint focus. In the hand, it’s a perfect fit. No finger fatigue from holding a vibrating toy, it’s a delight to use.So CQ is in love with this shell-like sex toy then, huh? Well, yes and no! As much as I enjoy the lovely deep vibrations, and love the grinding and whole vulva shake-a-thon thing that I get going on, it’s not quite perfect for me. In a nice, relaxed solo session, I find it quite hard to orgasm with the Kushi. I think for me, it’s just a little bit too soft and squishy. I like pressure, and as awesome as this feels against my body, I just struggle to get that physical connection where I need it, to tip me over the edge. It’s almost like a really intense, amazing feeling massage, if I go from a cold start, no matter how long I stick at it! I find it much better to grab the Kushi after I’ve already been playing with other toys, and I’m already more aroused. Then I really can zone into the depth of the vibrations and can climax more easily. Every orgasm I’ve had with Michelle (Me-Shell, Geddit?(couldn’t resist, sorry!)) has been a very satisfying, and fulfilling one.
As with all sex toys, it comes down to personal choice. For me, I love my Kushi, and I think it will feature pretty frequently in sex sessions, because it’s just so great to use when there’s two body’s together. CK really loves how the Kushi feels against him too. He sometimes finds hard ABS toys a bit too much against the underside of his cock or against his perineum, but the softness of the Kushi provides him with the vibrations he loves, without the friction or harshness of some other toys.
I chose the Kushi from the range to review, because I totally fell in love with how it looks. I’m now super intrigued about the Yoru – that cut out section could feel incredible if it encapsulates the clit as I think it might!
Tenga very kindly sent me the Iroha+ Kushi for free, in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This in no way alters my thought or experiences. You can grab a Kushi directly from Tenga here. No affiliate links have been used in this post.
