OVO E6 Review
By Carnal Queen.
Firstly, huge apologies for the length of time since my last review. My birthday, being ill, and real life drama have kinda forced me to put the brakes on recently, which sucks, but hopefully I can get back into more of a routine going forward, so yay for that! Right, on to the OVO E6 …
Knowing my own body well is kind of a massive prerequisite for doing what I do. Without that knowledge, I’d be pretty much lost. If I don’t understand what a toy does for me, and why, how the funk am I supposed to explain it you, my gorgeous readers? Yeah, it wouldn’t work would it. I’m fairly sure, if you’ve been around a while and have read some of my other reviews, that you’ll have a vague idea of what I like and what I don’t. Perhaps the most obvious is the type of vibration I favour … I like deep rumbles, not surface-buzzy bollocks.
Occasionally, a toy comes along that makes me question myself and what I prefer, and the OVO E6 is one of those toys. I think I kind of take for granted certain things when it comes to my taste in sex toys, but is that wrong? I don’t know, I’m confused. Is the sky even blue and are unicorns really just mythical creatures?
Let me start with the basics; the E6 is a rechargeable, silicone vibrator from the German brand, OVO. It’s a take on a rabbit vibrator, but it has some pretty interesting differences from the kind of bunny’s you may be used to. The E6 has three motors, and is a double-ended ‘couples’ toy. The control panel (2 buttons) and self-healing charging port are situated in the middle of the toy, so you can still make adjustments to the vibration speed or pattern whilst it’s inserted. The toy is waterproof too. Now, I’m not likely to ever use a toy like this in water, but it does mean it’s super easy to clean, which in my book is a good thing. I know I can give it a wash in the sink, and it’s not gonna need a sex toy funeral anytime soon after. Happy days.
You have 7 different vibration modes on the E6, 2 constant speeds and 5 patterns. This is the same for both ends of the toy, which you can have either running individually, or both together. If you have them both on at the same time, and you’re using the 2nd constant speed for instance, both ends will be running in the same mode, you can’t have one constant and one pattern. I think that’s a shame, but maybe that’s just me. There’s two motors in the rabbit end, to power both of the arms, and one in the handle.
I applaud OVO for making a toy that breaks the norm. I can see the benefits here, I was excited by them when I first got it out of the box. It’s versatile, it’s really soft and flexible, and the thought of being able to use the ‘rabbit’ end in the traditional sense, and have a partner benefit from the vibrating ‘handle’ is a good thought. I like toys that are different, and that can be used in a creative way to change things up a bit. The concept here is good.
BUT! A concept isn’t much good if it’s not backed by a whole heap of substance, is it? Maybe that’s not entirely fair, but the E6 just doesn’t work for me as a sex toy at all. It confuses me, it teases me, and it doesn’t deliver on the orgasm front *sad face*. I was astounded by the difference in the motors of this toy. I first thought the rabbit end would be more powerful if anything, because it’s basic maths, two motors, twice the power, but no. This end is as buzzy as a buzzy thing on a buzzy day. I was looking for the mosquito in the room when I first fired it up, but it was the E6. Then I turned on the handle motor, and was surprised to find that this motor had depth and was substantially more rumbly. You can see from this video that there’s a visible difference. Both ends are on the highest constant speed …
What really screws with my head is when I come to use it. I actually prefer the buzzy bunny side, which goes against everything I know to be true. It’s comfortable to use, easily manipulated to get a personal fit against your clit, and the handle and buttons feel right to use. Because the buttons are low on the handle, and more central on the toy, they don’t get accidentally pressed during play. Is it orgasmic? Nope, sadly not. For me, it’s too soft, the vibrations feel nice, but not mind-blowing, and internally it’s just pretty ‘meh’ for me.
So, the handle side with the rumblier vibrations will suit you better then, CQ? Well, you’d think so wouldn’t you, but they just don’t get me there. They build me up, but they let me down when it matters, and that’s never a good recipe in my pleasure book. It’s frustrating, because I have no idea why it doesn’t rev my engine. It should, I’m sure it should, but to get myself to orgasm after playing with the E6, I need jump-starting with something else. I’m usually getting annoyed by this point, so I reach for the Womanizer for speed and for a guaranteed climax.
Do I think the toy is bad? No, I really don’t. I absolutely know that some people will love it, and the different kinds of vibrations might actually be a bonus to someone, especially if their partner prefers the opposite to what they do. But for me, it’s a none starter. We can’t all love the same things though, can we? If you’re looking for something that’s a little bit different, and you like mid-power levels of vibration, then this well-made, 100% body-safe sex toy might be for you. OVO give you a 15 year warranty too, so you know you’re buying in to a quality product.
Pros
