Womanizer PRO40 Review
By Carnal Queen.
You all know by now that I’m a total Womanizer nut, so when they recently released the PRO40 version, I just had to give it a try and see what it was all about. The PRO40 is their new entry level model, and I’m thrilled that they’ve introduced one – there’s no denying that the price can put people off trying something different, so a more affordable option is a fantastic thing. I’m all for making the Womanizer experience accessible, for more people!
First Impressions
The PRO40 is packaged in a way that’s reminiscent of their first model, the W100. It’s clean and simple, with a clear image of the toy on the front. Inside, you’ll find your new playmate, a charging cable, instruction manual and a XL silicone nozzle. It comes fitted with the standard nozzle anyway, so it’s great to have the choice. The standard nozzle gives more targeted stimulation, whist the XL one, being larger, allows for a slightly gentler sensation. My preference is the standard, as it was on the W500, but sometimes I do like to use the XL one, and slow things down a bit. No storage bag or case with the PRO40, which obviously saves on cost.
So What’s Different?
Well the price is the big difference, obviously. There’s quite a significant change here, so I was intrigued to know if the product and overall success I’d had with Womanizer’s would suffer as a result. The PRO40 comes in at around $99/£85 – which puts it back in competition with the Satisfyer Pro 2. I know you all want to know how the two compare, so more on that in a little while.
Another huge difference between the PRO40 and the former models is the introduction of it being fully waterproof. Hallelujah! I’m so pleased about this, not only is the PRO40 suitable for bath-time fun, it’s also mega easy to keep clean. No more trying to be delicate with a sex toy-cleaner-soaked Q-tip. Fantastic!
Womanizer’s website lists the PRO40 as having eight levels of intensity, but I’ve got ten on mine. Weird, but I’m not going to complain at getting more! So there’s more choice than on the W100 or the W500 … bonus!
You get less run time with the PRO40, but at around 90 minutes it’s still pretty good. The motor is a value-priced offering, when compared to the deluxe W500. It still does the same job, but it’s a little noisier in use. Hey, that price drop needs to be accounted for somewhere!
Oh, and there’s not a Swarovski crystal in sight! People will be dancing in the streets at that piece of news, I’m sure. I’m certainly not mourning its loss. To me, the Pro40 looks exactly what the W100 should have. No fuss, just simple and straightforward.
Good in theory, but does it work?
Hell yes! I’m not going to lie, I was a little bit nervous about testing the PRO40. It’s a stripped back version in some ways, and I was worried that it would have a negative impact on the toys efficiency at ripping orgasms from my body. I needn’t have worried though. Yes, it’s noisier, and yes it does feel different to my beloved W500 Pro, but it still has that characteristic Womanizer charm for me. I loved the Satisyer Pro 2, but for me, the PRO40 just claims the first prize between those two.
I’ll be honest, the Satisfyer sounds and feels a little more refined to me, with the PRO40 feeling just that little bit more ‘rugged’, but for my body, that works. The only thing I can liken it to is vibration frequency – I like rumbly vibrations, but you might prefer buzzier ones. The Satisfyer works well for me, but I just prefer the type of suction from the Womanizer. It’s only subtly different, but it is different.
I love that it has the minus button which first debuted on the W500, and I’m pleased that they kept the ‘press the off button to go back to level one‘ feature. Because that’s something I’ve always done as I orgasm, to stop my clit from feeling like it’s been sucked into oblivion.
Is it all good news?
I can live with the noisier motor, and I don’t mind charging it a bit more often. I’m happy to forgo the storage case and I’m delighted there’s no more bling. But what I can’t stand is the bloody charging flap! It doesn’t sit flush against the toy, so I’m forever catching it. One day, I think I’ll catch it a bit too hard and rip it off, which will leave me concerned over the waterproof aspect of it. Time will tell on that one, I guess. If we’re giving out awards, Satisfyer wins the one for best charging method, because magnetic was the way to go. I really don’t like flappy-flaps.
Final thoughts …
It’s definitely a hit with me. I really like the ten settings, meaning you can start gently and build up to your climax. Which incidentally, I can still achieve in under two minutes, every time, If I choose. Under water, I think I still prefer the Satisfyer Pro 2, but I think that’s mainly down to how comfortable that is to hold and the button placement. It’s a shame the PRO40 has seen the return of the buttons to the front of the toy, they were much better placed for use on the back, like on the W500.
Despite that though, I think it’s a fabulous addition to the Womanizer range. If you have the budget, my recommendation would still be for the W500 Pro, but if you’re looking to try out a clitoral stimulation toy, for under 100, then I’d recommend the PRO40 as being the place to start. Let’s face it, I’m a Womanizer junkie. The name might be questionable, but their sex toys rock! Keep your eyes peeled for something else mega exciting from the Womanizer catalogue soon! I can hardly contain my excitement, but my lips are sealed! For now 😉
