In a break from the norm, I’m putting down the sex toys and picking up an (e)book. The Sexual Bucket List was very kindly sent to me to review by the author Oliver Clarke after we became connected on Twitter. This book isn’t any kind of sex manual, or self-help read, it’s a way to challenge your sex life, and who doesn’t want that? I really wasn’t too sure what to expect, so I delved straight in to see what it was all about …
I’m a big advocate of sex based games. Games such as Nookii or Monogamy always offer the player a little bit of something different – a chance to spice things up in the bedroom and try something new. I sometimes think that games like these often get overlooked though, couples can feel silly sitting down at a table and playing a game based around sex. They often call for you to have a lot of additional equipment, in the form of toys/blindfolds/massage oils etc, and they can take a fair bit of planning. Whilst they are great fun, the reason for playing them is often simply to add the excitement back into sex, to perhaps get ‘it’ a bit more often and to push the boundaries and step outside of your comfort zone … this book could help you to do just that, without ever having to sit around the dining room table feeling awkward!
This short book is essentially a list of over 150 different sexual acts, some very simple ones such as solo masturbation with no toys, progressing through to some more ‘specialised’ or in depth acts like sex on a plane or stimulating a partner with your feet! The aim of the game is to complete the acts on the list, in any order to suit you. Points are offered for each act you complete, ranging from 1 to 20. There’s an opportunity at the end of the book to gain points for ‘forfeit’ tasks, which you can opt to do instead of any of the other acts on the list that you find that for some reason you can’t or won’t do – I draw the line at a threesome, my man is mine, but at least I can still earn the points by doing a forfeit! There’s no time limits, it could take you years to complete your tasks if that’s how you want to play the game. There’s even a printable check-list, so you can keep a check of all of the challenges you’ve completed!
If you sit and read the whole list in one go like I did, you’ll find that there’s a bit of repetition. For example if you just so happen to complete your solo masturbation challenge in the buff, then you’re going to have to do it again, because completing it naked is a separate challenge in itself, and you can’t earn points for multiple tasks at the same time. Honestly though, the outcome of this is just going to mean that you have more orgasms, more sex, more fun! It’s win win!
Why not set yourself a personal challenge? ‘I want to achieve X amount of points by the end of next month or by the end of the year’ … If you know another openly sexual person or couple, you could challenge each other to see how many points you can earn in a specified time – There aren’t really any rules, but don’t cheat, because you’d only be cheating yourself!
For a first book, I think Oli has created something that is great fun, which will open your sexual possibilities and lead to you having LOTS of sex and sexual pleasure … sounds awesome doesn’t it? You can download a copy of The Sexual Bucket List here, and best of all, it’s just 99p. Yep, you read that right, 99p! What are you waiting for?
