We-Vibe 4 Plus Review
By Carnal Queen.
A sex toy that can be controlled by your lover, anywhere in the world? Hell yeah, I want me one of those! The We-Vibe 4 Plus was surrounded by hype and excitement when it was launched in September 2014, everyone wanted a piece of the action, myself included. The technology within it brought something new to the table, and I was excited to see how well it worked and whether or not it was worthy of such anticipation, so I set about enthusiastically putting it to the test …
I own a We-Vibe 3, I once loved it, and I do still like it, but there are certain aspects of it which frustrate me – was the We-Vibe 4 Plus going to address those issues? Was it really going to offer me something new? The concept of it is amazing, a toy which you can wear during sex with your partner, to provide you with clitoral and G-Spot stimulation, that doubles up as an internet controllable toy that allows your partner to control your pleasure when they’re not with you. Sounds fucking great doesn’t it?
It’s We-Vibe, so it arrives packaged as you would expect. It’s tasteful, high-end and all together lovely. I really love the discreet charging pod that you get with these, you just place the toy and the remote control in their little holes, pop the lid on and plug the unit in. Unless someone has actually seen or owns a We-Vibe wearable vibrator, they’re not going to have a clue what it is, unless they’re nosey buggers and actually take the top off, in which case you need to look at the company you keep! A full charge takes just 4 hours, and once you’ve downloaded the app to your smartphone, it’s super simple to pair to the toy, really it is, even I could do it! Before you know it, you’re ready to get down and dirty with the We-Vibe 4 Plus …
One of the annoying things for me with the We-Vibe 3 was how much it moved during sex. Now I’m not talking full on hardcore fucking, it would even move around during more gentle lovemaking, so hard and fast fucking was completely out of the question! The We-Vibe 3 was also made from glossy silicone, which meant it was a dust magnet and made it quite draggy on the skin, leading to a need for buckets full of lubricant! The We-Vibe 4 Plus is definitely more body hugging, and because it’s made from smooth, silky matte silicone, it does tend to stay where you put it – mostly. You’re always going to be aware that it may move or slip out if you change the position you’re in though, especially when lube is involved! The design is much more discreet because it sits closer to the body and I love my version in slate grey – I really wish other manufacturers would take note, we like a variety of colour options.
You can control the toy by the button on the top (forget this, it’s too fiddly to use during play), by the remote control or by the app on your smartphone. The remote control has got a slightly better range than the one that came with the We-Vibe 3, but it does still need to be fairly close to the body in order for it to work faultlessly. I would imagine, that the vast majority of people will control it via the app, and there’s a very good reason for that. Using the app, you actually get more modes, 5 extra than the remote control (10 in total), plus you can also create your own vibration patterns – yep, you read that right, this thing can vibrate however you want it to! It’s very intuitive in use, and very responsive, not to mention a whole lot of fun! The two motors, one for clitoral stimulation and one for G-Spot stimulation can be controlled independently, allowing you to create a totally customisable experience to suit you. Play around with them, find out which combination of patterns and intensities you prefer …
The vibrations are fairly good too, they have depth and are quite rumbly, my partner certainly enjoys feeling them along his shaft when we have sex. It’s very comfortable to wear, the silicone is very soft and flexible, so you hardly know you’re wearing it (apart from it buzzing away inside and outside of you, obviously!) and it’s also pretty damn quiet considering it’s power levels. There’s a pattern and intensity to suit everyone (and if there’s not, make your own!), going from the more gentle to the more intense and powerful. I would probably like it to have an extra notch of power, but then I do like hardcore all the way!
I want to love this toy! I want to be sticking it into my willing vagina at every opportunity! I would be, if it fucking fit me! I’m so frustrated by the fact that this potentially amazing toy doesn’t fit my stupid anatomy, it overshoots my clit, leaving it on the edge of vibrations which could feel amazing if they were actually where they should be, ON MY CLIT! It also eludes my G-Spot too, I can’t even get half the pleasure! It’s not the toys fault, we’re all built differently, and as with rabbit vibrators, the shape of something needs to fit you in order for you to get the full benefits from it, sadly this doesn’t quite hit the spot(s) for me.
That said, it’s still bordering on awesome, I love that my partner can control me from wherever he happens to be at the time, and although it doesn’t fit me exactly, with a bit of contorting I can make it hit where it needs to. For me, this toy is amazing for foreplay, for teasing, and for winding me up, in both senses of the word! I’m excited for where this technology will lead sex toys in the future …
